What Gould have done as a member of Bears

Gould is the most accurate kicker in franchise history, hitting 85.4 percent of his field goals. He is also the Bears’ All-Time leader in points scored with 1,207 and field goals made with 276.

The kicker was the only player remaining for the team’s 2006 NFC Championship team – the last Bears’ squad to make the Super Bowl.

In 2006, Robbie Gould became the first Bears kicker to be selected to the Pro Bowl after leading all kickers with 143 points.

Gould is the Bears’ all-time points leader and had been the team’s longest-tenured player.

What Bears said about the event

Bear said nothing about this event, maybe Gould was scheduled to make $2.9 million this season, and the Bears have apparently decided to go with a cheaper kicker. It’s unclear at this point who that cheaper kicker will be.

We don't know for sure whether or not it is the main reason, but The Bears will save $3 million by releasing him, The Athletic’s Dan Durkin reported.
